MUSIC TECH LAB

Our Music Tech Lab provides a series of courses ranging from the very basics of electronic music and home-recording for Juniors and Adults, to in-depth classes on Production, Live Performance and Production for Visual Media, all the way up to the development of an Artist Portfolio.

Intro to Music Technology (Beginner)

Learn the fundamentals of Music Technology through this comprehensive introduction to the electronic music studio.
Students will learn basic music theory and be able to use software and hardware for basic electronic music production (Sequencing, Audio Recording, Mixing).
Available to anyone aged between 7 and 107.

Music Production Workshop (Intermediate)

Perfect your own electronic music production with this comprehensive study of MIDI control systems. Learn how to integrate hardware and software synthesizers, digital audio, and controllers into Digital Audio Workstation. We also explore Sound Design, Arrangement, Composition and Production strategies, with collaborative assignments to simulate the Artist-Producer relationship

Ableton Live Performance (Intermediate)

Learn to create new musical ideas and produce electronic arrangements on Ableton Live. We focus on producing new work, creating remixes and preparing songs and compositions for electronic performance, specifically for a live setting, using Ableton Live.

Production for Visual Media (Intermediate)

Explore how to use MIDI/Audio sequencing in scoring to picture, maximizing dramatic expression in Commercials, Movie Scenes, and Trailers. Practice interpreting creative briefs in this highly technical, but also creative, course.

Building a Professional Portfolio (Advanced)

Learn the tools, tips and business tactics to build a career in music production. Build a portfolio of your own work to use in the real world, and explore how to broadcast and promote your work on websites, music platforms and media channels.

ENSEMBLE

Looking to play with others? Look no further. We’ll find the right group for your level and musical tastes, from trios to large ensembles.

Our Ensemble classes will cover:

  • Styles (eg. R&B, Pop, Jazz)
  • Cultures (Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Afro-Cuban)

And we don’t just leave you to it. We’ll track and evaluate your Interplay, Rhythm, Reading, Repertoire and Improvisation to make sure you never stop improving.

WORLD PERCUSSION WORKSHOP

Explore and analyze different rhythms from around the world. Aided by audio and written examples, we use a hands-on approach to deconstruct different rhythmic traditions from around the world: South America, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, North Africa, India and The Middle East. Breaking down the fundamental elements of these styles, we explore their similarities and differences, while expanding your rhythmic literacy and your understanding of the musical world around you.

SONGWRITING

If you like songwriting, and can already sing and play, this course if for you. We will arm you with the tools to prepare, craft and practice songs in a systematically creative way.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Experience and analyze the songwriting process and outcome
  • Write and present your music to other musicians using fundamental principles and formats
  • Master appropriate songwriting patterns

Throughout the process we will assess various aspects of your songwriting so you can make sustained and rapid progress.

VOICE CIRCLE

Discover your unique tones and enjoy collective singing with others as you explore how to sing healthily and various modes of singing (chest, nasal, head, falsetto and mix). A safe and non-judgmental space where to grow comfortable sharing and singing. Open to all.

DRUM CIRCLE

Explore your sense rhythm and collaborative instinct through percussion, using group-play that is in sync (tempo, dynamic and rhythm) with plenty of opportunities for freedom. Open to all.

KIDS MUSIC PROGRAMS

INTRO TO MUSIC FOR KIDS

This is where children between 5 and 10 discover music through fun and interactive group music learning using games, improvisation and interactive exercises.

Children will learn to sing and read solfege, play and read basic rhythmic notation with clapping and drums, basic songwriting and much more.

Classes are 45 minutes long and streamed by age.

Our 1:1 music program covers performance, technique, ear-training, rhythm, interplay, spontaneous composition, improvisation and repertoire. But it begins with you.

We start by finding what makes you unique and what stimulates you creatively. Then we put all our efforts into nurturing those unique qualities, tailoring our tutoring towards your potential.

Whatever level you’re working at, we develop your performance abilities by exploring the sonic and expressive potential of each instrument, and practice spontaneous composition to immerse you in the creative mindset.

And with our careful progress tracking and feedback throughout, you will flourish like never before.
