We use Dance to empower everyone who walks through our doors, fostering imagination, growth and self-awareness for personal, creative and professional goals.

Our Dance training is of the very highest caliber, informed by the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Boston Ballet, Sarah Lawrence College and Judson Memorial Church.

We make sure learning is both disciplined and enjoyable, imparting a huge range of knowledge and aesthetics, while allowing our students to discover their creativity and express their true selves.

ADULT DANCE PROGRAMS

FLAMENCO

This highly-expressive Spanish dance form is open to all levels. Flamenco dance is characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork, and intricate hand, arm, and body movements.

JAZZ

Rhythmic and expressive training for all levels that develops precision, musical sensibility, and coordination for everybody. Jazz is offered in traditional, theater, and street styles.

HIP HOP

Have fun learning movement elements of different eras from Golden Age to current. Includes street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music, including breaking, locking, and popping popularized by dance crews in the United States. Open to all levels.

HIP HOP JAZZ FUNK

Blends hip hop and jazz in a funky, fun environment. Enriches musicality and coordination while teaching technique, exercises, and combinations.

AFRO-FUSION

Learn several forms related to the diaspora including traditional and contemporary African dance forms, Afrobeat, Capoeira, and Cuban dance styles.

CLUB GROOVES

Come learn the sub styles of Jazz and Hip-Hop, birthed in clubs and discos that now stand alone, including House, Vogue, Locking, and Whacking.

BALLET

Beautiful, intense, highly formalized training essential to a dancer’s growth and structure. We teach aspects of Vaganova, Balanchine, Ceccheti, and Royal Ballet Techniques. Accessible and fun, yet rigorous and disciplined.

CONTEMPORARY

Dynamic movement that uses elements of ballet, jazz, and modern. This class highly technical class fuels everyone’s unique creativity and expression, while offering athletic and artistic training.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET

Combines the athleticism and rigor of ballet, while exploring shapes, lines, and movement pathways beyond the traditional ballet vocabulary. Open to all levels.

DANCE BODY CONDITIONING AND WELLNESS

Access the dancer’s toolkit to align muscles, improve movement and strengthen body and mind. Techniques include movements developed from Pilates, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Floor-Barre, and Mind-Body Awareness.

TAP DANCE

This rhythmic, fun dance form of jazz gets your feet, brain, and full body coordination working fast. Come ready to learn tap skills, percussive footwork and short choreographies. Bring da noise!

CONTACT IMPROVISATION

Learn dance partnering via weight-sharing, momentum and counterbalance. Contact-improvisation also greatly improves confidence, as well as active-listening and response practices through movement.

IMPROVISATION

Gain awareness, facility, and expression of your unique body through movement prompts, choices, and direction from which to solve problems and access your creative movement.

WOMEN’S DANCE WORKOUT PARTY

Get your groove on with a full body workout that incorporates cardio, stretching, and strengthening! Get strong, get together and get rid of stress—the perfect start to the day.

CHOREOGRAPHY

Design movement sequences, under guidance of the instructor, that thoughtfully consider time, space, and energy in their choreographic design. This class focuses on exploring movement and developing the individual artistry of each person.

BALLROOM DANCE

Come dance the night away! Each person is given a partner to practice, and perfect salsa, merengue, bachata, swing, waltz, and tango. For singles and couples of all levels.

BALLROOM LESSON AND DANCE SOCIAL

This Ballroom Dance class opens up into a ballroom dance social, where we do a fun dance rotation! Each person has the chance to practice their steps, and freestyle with different partners.

JUNIOR DANCE PROGRAMS

CLASSICAL DANCE

We draw on modern and classical traditions to enhance dancers’ awareness, facility, and expression of their unique bodies. We work thoroughly and individually with our students in thoughtful consideration of time, space, and energy dynamics. Our Junior levels are: First steps: ages 3-5 Level II: ages 6-8 Level III: ages 9-12 Level IV ITD*: ages 13-18 *Intensive Training Division

CREATIVE MOVEMENT

A fun introduction to Dance for 3-5 year olds that teaches young children self/spatial awareness, musicality, precision, and cooperation through movement.

Frequency: 1x class per week

BALLET

MODERN

Athletic, grounded, strong training integral to foundation and awareness of a well-rounded dancer. Our training includes aspects of Horton, Graham, Limon, Cunningham, and Nikolais techniques. For Levels II, III and IV.

Frequency: 2x class per week

CONTEMPORARY

Virtuosic, versatile, and dynamic movement developed from elements of ballet, jazz, and modern. Our training is highly technical with aspects of contemporary ballet, modern release, and BodyStories techniques. For Levels II, III and IV.

Frequency: 2x classes per week

IMPROVISATION/COMPOSITION

Improvisation draws from contemporary improvisational techniques, including Forsythe technique, to enhance dancers’ awareness, facility, and expression of their unique bodies. Develops problem solving, creative movement and composition skills. Level IV only.

Frequency: 1x class per week

URBAN CONTEMPORARY DANCE

The Urban Contemporary Dance (UCD) program prepares young dancers for a career in the professional Dance industry, and offers an outlet of expression for movers at all levels. UCD trains students in various dance styles, giving them an edge in a very competitive industry.

Having spent most of her life in New York, Teresa has established a strong reputation as a leading choreographer of her generation. Since studying at Sarah Lawrence, teaching at Alvin Ailey and performing on the international stage, Teresa worked as an independent choreographer and founded BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance, her work generating glowing reviews from The New York Times, The Huffington Post and The Scotsman, amongst others.
